A New Mobility of Microclimates in Málaga

As Málaga continues to grow both locally and internationally, the project integrates various urban and natural fabrics, enhancing sustainable mobility by connecting the Merino Stream and Guadalhorce River corridors—creating a genuine green lung in the west of Málaga.

A key element of the architectural design is a resilient and flexible circular ring to host the Expo, which can seamlessly transform into urban infrastructure for the city—a crucial adaptation for this type of project.

Our design incorporates water recycling and purification systems directed to the central pond, establishing a dynamic, adaptable landscape where water remains fundamental—a critical concern for Málaga’s future.

Three distinct microclimates—lagoon, meadow, and Mediterranean forest—will emerge, with the lagoon area serving as both a floodable park for summer activities and a contemplative water retention pond during the rainy season. This proposal sets a new precedent for integrating green and blue infrastructures within Málaga’s expanding urban fabric.
